Proposed Development
Intrie Capital recently proposed plans for development in downtown Moultrie. The project requires both public and private partnerships. We have presented conceptual ideas to the Downtown Development Authority and the Moultrie City Council. Initial discussions are in place for the development to move forward, beginning the second quarter of 2021.
We are excited to implement the proposed improvements, which will bring two new businesses to the area. With the recent closure of the Senior Center, the Colquitt Theatre is vacant. A proposed restaurant will keep the vacancy time to a minimum. Seating for the restaurant will flow outside to the improved, pedestrian-friendly, 1st Court alley. Restricting vehicular traffic, resurfacing concrete, adding lights & tables, and introducing shade coverings will create an outdoor area appropriate for conversing, dining, and drinking with family and friends. The outdoor area will act as a shared common space, as the other proposed business, a brewery, intends to locate in the commercial building's annex. The annex will undergo renovations to improve access to the alleyway through glass roll-up doors.
Other portions of the proposed development include reworking existing parking areas to increase the number of spaces within the same footprint. Businesses on Main street will have improved pedestrian traffic by relocating a staircase to create a sidewalk to parking lots in the rear.
Intrie Capital will help facilitate discussions as all parties involved reach agreements to implement the proposed improvements. Intrie Capital is excited to see how the improvements will transform the entire area. It will create permanent jobs, increase tax revenue, enhance downtown, add parking spaces, improve pedestrian friendliness, and promote green space.
June 2021 Update
The city of Moultrie intends to pursue the site improvements proposed by Intrie Capital. We are still actively working to bring new dining options to downtown Moultrie. In addition, the brewery is moving forward in a building nearby. Stay tuned for exciting announcements!
